Dill seed has a flavor somewhat similar to caraway, but also resembling that of fresh or dried dill weed. Dill Seed and Weed are also widely used in pickling and have been traditionally used to soothe the stomach after meals.

The August 2005 edition of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry confirmed the usefulness of dill seed and weed in stopping growth of various bacteria, yeast, and molds.
